By Zoila Palma:  The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, has partnered with Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) and the European Union to bring electricity to the residents of San Carlos and Indian Church Villages.

The Ministry says that before this Rural Electrification Project, both of these communities in the Orange Walk District lacked connectivity to BEL’s national grid.

“With this milestone achieved, these underserved communities can now enjoy reliable power,” a statement from the Government said.

Prime Minister John Briceño symbolically flipped the switch to activate the electricity infrastructure that will supply power to 150 households in the two villages.
