By Rubén Morales Iglesias: United States Embassy Chargé d’affaires Katharine Beamer visited Silk Grass Farms on Monday, highlighting the farm’s regenerative agricultural practices.
“Chargé d’affaires Katharine Beamer got the chance to visit Silk Grass Farms today and see how forward-thinking American investment is making an impact in Belize,” the U.S. Embassy said.
“Silk Grass is demonstrating that strong U.S.-Belize partnerships are setting a high bar for innovative farming and quality production in the region,” the U.S. Embassy added.
In its latest newsletter, Silk Grass Farms announced a partnership with French chocolate maker Valrhona.
“If the people at the beginning of the value chain, those taking care of the cocoa trees and the cocoa beans, are not treated fairly, we can’t expect them to create the highest quality cocoa while preserving a healthy environment and communities,” said Stéphane Sabourin, Valrhona’s Sourcer and Cocoa Development Manager, in the newsletter.
“We are glad to be part of keeping pastry chefs well-supplied!” Silk Grass Farms said in the newsletter.

“We are delighted to be partners with Valrhona Chocolate to transform the cocoa value chain from extractive to regenerative.”
“Here at Silk Grass Farms, we are surrounded by abundance. Every bottle of Silk Grass Farms products is created using regenerative practices that honor and protect the natural systems teeming with wildlife and plant species that we rely upon. This land’s bounty has helped us create meaningful work, deep relationships, and delicious, healthful products,” co-founder Mandy Cabot wrote in the newsletter.
The newsletter also noted the expansion of Silk Grass Farms’ Sandy Creek Academy, which now includes new classrooms and learning spaces. The school grounds feature a fish pond, farm animals, and a garden, offering students hands-on experience in sustainable agricultural practices.

Silk Grass Farms said their products, including cold-pressed juices, coconut water, coconut oils, and more are located countrywide.
The newsletter further claimed that in 2024 the company “initiated conversations with the Belize government to co-manage the 95,000-acre Sittee Forest Reserve with the Belize government.”
Silk Grass Farms also said it “increased export sales sixfold in 2024, established coconut water as a top-selling product accounting for 43% of total sales,” and “employed women in more than 40% of all supervisory and managerial positions.”
