Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) have postponed the second leg of the Opening Championship semifinal between Port Layola FC and Progresso FC due to persistent rainfall and poor pitch conditions at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.

The match, originally scheduled for Sunday, November 30 at 3:30 pm, will be rescheduled once a suitable venue and date are confirmed. PLB Secretary General Wilhelm Miguel said the decision was made after inspecting the field and reviewing the weather forecast.

The PLB is now considering relocating the match to Belmopan, either at the FFB Stadium or the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, depending on availability. A midweek fixture is likely, as the Marion Jones Sports Complex is not sanctioned for night games due to inadequate lighting.

The delay comes after Progresso FC stunned Port Layola 2–1 in the first leg last Saturday at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. Latrell Middleton and Rene Leslie scored for the #3 seed, while Gilroy “Leng” Thurton netted the lone goal for Port Layola.

With Progresso holding a slim advantage, the return leg remains decisive. Port Layola must win to keep their championship hopes alive, while Progresso will look to defend their lead and secure a spot in the final.
