By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a fire in southern Belize where two houses were destroyed and one was partially damaged.
The ongoing investigation commenced on Monday, October 7, about 2:05 p.m., when police responded to a report of a house fire on the main road in Seine Bight Village, Stann Creek District. Upon arrival, they observed two wooden houses engulfed in flames and one partially burnt.
One of the houses was occupied by a Belizean housekeeper of Seine Bight Village, and her three daughters. No one was inside the house at the time of the fire.
The third house, which was partially destroyed, is owned by a Belizean Customs Officer from Seine Bight Village. The value of that house and its contents is estimated at $150,000. The value of the other two houses is currently unknown. No one was injured during the fire.
