By Zoila Palma: BELTRAIDE, in partnership with the Belize Tax Service Department, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, and the Department of Local Government, has launched a new initiative aimed at helping small business owners formalize their operations: the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Tax Amnesty Programme.
The programme allows entrepreneurs who have operated without formal registration with the Belize Tax Service to achieve compliance while benefiting from a one-year business tax exemption, starting from the date they receive their MSME Tax Amnesty Certificate.
Participants will also be shielded from accrued penalties and interest on any past business tax obligations.
To make the programme accessible, partnering agencies are conducting nationwide roadshows, bringing guidance and support directly to business owners.
Today, Belize City hosts the first roadshow at the Belize Civic Center, running until 3:00 p.m.
Representatives from BELTRAIDE, the Belize Tax Service, the Companies & Corporate Affairs Registry, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government, and the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit are on hand to provide on-the-spot assistance.
Business owners are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity, with applications closing on October 29, 2025.
