By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The second round of the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 Opening Championship kicks off on Saturday night as current champions and leaders Verdes FC travel to Belmopan to face Capital Sport Club (Benque Viejo United) at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. The match begins at 7:30 pm and opens the second half of the regular season with the league leaders visiting the last-place White Lions.
Their first-round meeting on August 2 in Benque Viejo del Carmen ended in a 7–0 blowout for Verdes. Desmond Wade scored in the opening minute and later added a second, while Daiver Vega, Jahyrl Smith, Felix Martinez (penalty), Ze Carlos Carrillo, and an own goal by CSC’s Luis Valdez.
Verdes enter the second round unbeaten with 14 points and a +13 goal difference. Capital Sport Club remain winless, sitting at the bottom with just one point and a -23 margin. With a midweek trip to Napoles FC ahead, Verdes will aim to maintain momentum and extend their lead, while CSC look to show improvement in front of their home crowd.
