Belize’s U23 men’s volleyball team continued its impressive run at the VII AFECAVOL U-23 Central American Championship in Chiriquí, Panama, sweeping Honduras 
3–0 (25–22, 25–20, 25–15) to qualify for the fifth-place playoff against El Salvador 
.
The match, played at Gimnasio La Basita in Chiriquí, Panama, capped a strong second-round performance for Team Belize, who rebounded from a tough group-stage draw to assert their dominance at the net and in transition play.
Group A Drama: Three-Way Tie Settled by Sets
In Round One, Group A ended in a rare three-way tie, with Belize , Panama 
, and Guatemala 
each finishing with one win and one loss. Final standings were determined by points earned and sets won/lost:
- Panama defeated Belize 3–0
- Guatemala beat Panama 3–1
- Belize stunned Guatemala 3–1
Despite identical win-loss records (1–1), Panama topped the group with 6 points, followed by Guatemala with 5, and Belize with 4, due to the number of sets won and lost.
This outcome sent:
- Panama (1st in Group A) to face Nicaragua, winners of Group B, in Friday’s semifinal
- Guatemala (2nd in Group A) to play Costa Rica, Group B runners-up
- Belize (3rd in Group A) into the second round, where they faced Honduras for a chance at fifth place

Belize’s Net Control and Scoring Depth
Against Honduras, Belize outperformed in every major category, showcasing superior attack, block, and serve execution:
- Attack: Belize scored 40 points on attack compared to Honduras’ 30, with fewer faults (11 vs 17) and more attempts (74 vs 71)
- Block: Belize posted 9 block points to Honduras’ 6, with tighter fault control and better timing
- Serve: Belize landed 4 aces and committed 12 faults, while Honduras managed 2 aces with 11 faults
- Opponent Errors: Belize capitalized on 22 opponent errors, contributing to their 75 total points versus Honduras’ 57
Kaelen Ingram led all scorers with 21 points (17 attack, 2 block, 2 serve), followed by Eleazar Mejía with 14 (12 attack, 2 block). Musa added 7 points, Butler chipped in 4, and Richardson, Sutherland, Barber, and Usher each contributed 1–2 points to round out Belize’s balanced offense.
Honduras’ top scorer was Montes with 17 points (14 attack, 3 block), but the team struggled to generate consistent pressure and fell behind early in each set.
