By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Tut Bay FC, champions of the Belize District Football Association closing season, will host Corozal’s Calcutta Bulls in the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) quarterfinal on Saturday, July 19 at 7:30 pm at Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
Tut Bay punched their ticket with a 2–1 extra-time victory over Garage FC at Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence, powered by goals from Calvin Thurton and Tom Moguel. The first leg had ended in a scoreless draw in Belize City.
The Calcutta Bulls overturned a 2–0 first-leg deficit against San Marcos FC, storming to a 3–0 win at Calcutta Field courtesy of a brace from Joshua Villanueva and a goal by Steven “Bredds” Baizar. That gave the Bulls a 3–2 aggregate win and the ticket to face Belize City’s Tut Bay in the quarterfinals
This decisive matchup could shape the tone for the remainder of the tournament.
