Honorary Consulate of Belize in Quintana Roo, Mexico warns of Fake advertisement

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the Honorary Consulate of Belize in Quintana Roo, led by José Luis Kelly issued a statement warning on a fake advertisement circulating on social media.

Kelly asserted that all procedures related to obtaining the Regional Visitor Card (TVR)—issued by Mexican immigration authorities at the Subteniente López checkpoint—are completely free of charge.

“In accordance with administrative regulations, applicants must follow the proper procedures and timelines to obtain the card.

It is therefore false to suggest that Belizean “agents” assist with this process or that any payment can expedite these mandatory procedures, which are entirely free,” a statement from the Honorary Consulate noted.

The Honorary Consul emphasized that Mexican immigration authorities stationed at Subteniente López have made considerable efforts to ensure the process for Belizeans to obtain the TVR is carried out efficiently and promptly.

“Fortunately,” said Consul José Luis Kelly, “as a result of our discussions with Mexican immigration officials, additional staff have been assigned to support Belizean nationals and increase the number of cards issued daily. We firmly deny any claims that paying Belizean intermediaries can accelerate the process.”
