By Aaron Humes: The Government of Belize Press Office has announced that Prime Minister-elect John Briceño’s swearing-in ceremony will take place this afternoon in Belize City.
Briceño, elected to an eighth term as area representative for Orange Walk Central, will take the oath at Government House, Belize City at 2 p.m. today, Thursday.
The Prime Minister is the leader of the political party in the House of Representatives that appears to Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam to command the most support.
This will be Briceño’s second term as Prime Minister, though he has rowed back on indications it will be his last as he wants a succession plan in place before stepping down.
