By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Closing Championship is reaching a fever pitch as teams battle it out for supremacy. With four weeks down and one to go to end the first round, the competition is heating up, and the standings are beginning to take shape.
Verdes FC currently lead the pack with nine points, showcasing a dominant performance thus far. Close behind them is Port Layola FC are closewho have six points but still have a game pending. San Pedro Pirates are also in the mix with six points, while Progresso FC have managed to secure three points from one game less. Both Belmopan Bandits and Wagiya SC have yet to secure any points.
One of the most anticipated matches is the rescheduled game between Port Layola FC and Progresso FC. This match, which was postponed due to the shooting spree at the Marion Jones Sports Complex during the Belize District Football Association Semifinals last Friday, could be a game-changer, potentially altering the standings significantly, but the FFB hasn’t yet sanctioned the match.
