By Horace Palacio: A late-night house fire in the Benqueche area of Dangriga has left an elderly woman dead as authorities work to determine the cause of the blaze.
Police were called to the scene around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, where they found the house fully engulfed in flames. After firefighters managed to contain the fire, the body of an elderly female was discovered inside the burnt structure.
Investigators remain on the scene, working to establish whether the fire was accidental or deliberately set. The identity of the victim has not yet been released as authorities continue their inquiries.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact police.
