By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexican authorities have uncovered 11 clandestine graves containing 15 bodies in the southern state of Chiapas, amid ongoing violence between the Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación drug cartels.

The graves were found during a raid in La Concordia, near the Guatemala border.

Four people connected to the case were arrested with weapons and drugs, AP reports.

The state prosecutor’s office reported that the raid involved two locations: one with three graves and three bodies, and the other with eight graves and 12 bodies.

Advanced tools like drones, geo-radars, and ground searches were used during the operation.

This discovery follows a recent find of another grave with charred remains in a neighboring area.

Cartel-related violence over drug trafficking routes and other criminal activities has displaced over 10,000 people in recent years, including many fleeing to Guatemala.
