By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a significant development at the latest Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday in Costa Rica, Belize’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, José Abelardo Mai was appointed as the Representative of the Council of Ministers to the Executive Board of CATIE (Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza or Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center). This appointment underscores Belize’s growing influence in regional agricultural and environmental initiatives.
During the meeting, several key resolutions were made, reflecting the commitment of the council to furthering agricultural and environmental progress in the region. The main outcomes of the meeting included:

- MBA Maritza Dominguez from IDIAP, Panama, as a representative of member countries on the Executive Board.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of collaboration and commitment among the member countries, aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices and advancing food security across the region.
