By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A recent New York Times/Siena College poll reveals Kamala Harris and Donald Trump tied at 48% each, highlighting a deeply divided electorate just weeks before the election.
This marks a shift from early October when Harris had a slight lead, the New York Times report.
Despite extensive campaigning, including debates and rallies, neither candidate has gained a clear advantage.
Concerns about immigration have shifted voter sentiment slightly in Trump’s favor, with 15% citing it as their top issue.
Voters trust Trump more on immigration by an 11-point margin.
While Harris has narrowed the gap on economic issues, Trump still holds a 6-point lead in that area. She leads by 16 points on protecting abortion access, aiming to attract female voters.
Despite both candidates’ challenges, 15% of voters remain undecided, with Harris leading in that group.
Early voters also lean toward Harris at 59%.
Times/Siena polls are conducted by telephone, using live interviewers, in both English and Spanish.
