By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Presidents of several Latin American countries including Argentina and El Salvador are using social media to denounce Venezuela’s election fraud and challenge Nicolas Maduro.

This digital activism highlights the growing role of social media in international diplomacy and political advocacy.

In recent weeks, platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok have been flooded with statements and calls for action from prominent figures across the globe.

Leaders from countries including the United States, Argentina and El Salvador have expressed concern following Maduro’s declaration of victory in the elections.

In addition, tech billionaire Elon Musk called Maduro a “dictator.”

Since that post on X, Maduro has publicly called out Musk for a fight saying that whoever messes with him or Venezuela “gets dry.”

Musk responded on X saying, “I accept,” however, Musk said that if he wins, Maduro must resign as dictator of Venezuela.

Maduro also called El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele a “repressive murderer,” after the Salvadoran President referred to the elections in Venezuela as an “election fraud.”

Bukele added that 4 years ago, the country broke ties with Venezuela and will not reinstate ties until there is a legitimate election in the country.

As the situation continues to unfold, the use of social media by world leaders reflects a growing trend where digital platforms are employed not just for communication but as tools for political strategy and advocacy.

The ongoing global discourse around Venezuela’s elections underscores the increasing intersection of technology, politics, and international relations.
