Vital Statistics Unit conducts First Birth Registration Mobile Clinic for 2024

On January 13th and 14th, the Vital Statistics Unit (VSU), in collaboration with UNICEF and Hon. Orlando Habet, Area Representative for the Cayo Northeast and Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management, conducted a Birth Registration Mobile Clinic in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. This initiative allowed residents from remote communities in the Cayo District to gain access to vital services such as registration of regular and late births and deaths, application of certificates, corrections of errors and deed polls.

More than 800 residents benefited from the services provided at the mobile clinic. Two hundred seven late registrations of births and 29 late registrations of deaths were approved and registered, and a total of 878 applications were processed. These services give Belizeans the opportunity to gain access to an identity which represents the possibility for a better quality of life since it is the gateway to all other essential services in our country.

The VSU looks forward to continuing to assist Belizeans at its upcoming mobile clinic in the Corozal District on January 27th and 28th, as the Government of Belize continues to provide its resources to the people of Belize. 

The Attorney General’s Ministry expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the Vital Statistics Unit’s amazing team for making this and all other mobile clinics a tremendous success.
