By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The U17 Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) are set to face hosts Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, January 29, in their second match of the 2025 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Qualifiers at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
Despite the stumble in their Group B opening match against Honduras, in which they lost 2-0 on Monday, January 27, the U17 BWNT are refocusing and preparing for their next challenge.
“In their opening match of the 2025 CONCACAF U17 Women’s Qualifiers, our Belizean warriors gave their all but fell 2-0 to Honduras,” the FFB said after the initial match.
“The journey continues as they prepare to face the host country, Trinidad and Tobago, on January 29th. Let’s rally behind our team and show them our unwavering support!”
In the other group match on Monday, Trinidad and Tobago blasted the US Virgin Islands 5-0.
The schedule for Belize’s matches is as follows:
- Monday, January 27, 2025: Belize 0-2 Honduras @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
- Wednesday, January 29, 2025: Belize vs. Trinidad and Tobago @ 8:00 pm (6:00 pm Belize)
- Friday, January 31, 2025: Belize vs. US Virgin Islands @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
The six group winners and the two best runners-up will advance to the next round, where they will join the top four teams, namely the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Haiti, in April-May 2025 for the CONCACAF Championship. The top four from that tournament will earn a berth in the U17 World Cup to be held in Morocco this year.
