By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The three players who scored for the U-15 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) in the V Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship (League B) will line up against Suriname in the match for 11^th place on Friday at 3:00 pm Trinidad time (1:00 pm Belize time) at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago.

Shanalee Smith, who scored two goals in the 3-2 victory over Barbados, leads the Belize team, flanked by Arella Cal, who also scored against Barbados, and Betsy Perez, who converted Belize’s only goal in the 5-1 loss to Honduras.

Belize should have played the US Virgin Islands (USVI), who finished third in Group D, but flight problems caused Concacaf to change Belize’s rival to Suriname, who were next in line.

Earlier today, the Dominican Republic and Honduras advanced to the finals. The Dominican Republic defeating hosts Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 in the first semifinal while Honduras beat Guatemala 2-0 in the other semifinal. Both will play the Final on Sunday.

Bermuda won fifth place earlier with a 2-0 win over Cuba.

Friday’s Schedule and Results

Semifinals;

• Trinidad and Tobago 0-1 Dominican Republic
• Guatemala 0-2 Honduras

The other Ranking Playoffs are:

• 5^th Place: Cuba 0-2 Bermuda
• 7^th Place: Antigua and Barbuda – Curaçao
• 9^th Place: Trinidad High Performance – Cayman Islands
• 11^th Place: Belize – Suriname
• 13^th Place:  Barbados – Grenada
