By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 2023 Belikin La Ruta Maya winners Slim and Trim like Guava Limb were leading the 2024 race which started early on Friday in San Ignacio.

Slim and Trim, who are aiming for a repeat if last year’s performance, were ahead of the lead boats when they passed the Baking Pot Ferry.

According to Belikin La Ruta Maya Facebook page these were the category leaders at Baking Pot:

Male – #01 Slim and Trim like Guava Limb

Family – #36 One Paddle Closer

Mix – #55  Team Lucas Oil

Masters – #65 Weh Deh Deh

C2 – #52 Koop Sheet Metal

Pleasure – 27 MSDCCDRM Triple Threat

Intramural – 20 UB Black Jaguars

Women – 18 Belize Port Authority Seasters

Sixty-three teams are competing in the four-stage race which finishes in Belize City on Monday.
