By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police in the Stann Creek District are investigating the sudden death of a 16-month-old girl in Georgetown Village.
According to police reports, the child’s mother went to work around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, leaving her daughter in the care of a neighbor. When the mother returned home at 4:00 p.m., she found her child unresponsive and immediately called for help.
The neighbor told police she had fed the baby around 1:30 p.m. before putting her down for a nap. She claimed to have found the toddler lying in vomit and unresponsive about two hours later.
Police are now awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, and police have stated that all possibilities remain open.
