By Aaron Humes: A theft report has been filed by a young man, employed as a customer service representative, who says there were unauthorized transactions on his Atlantic Bank account.
The complainant discovered the troubling activity after checking his online banking on the evening of Monday, July 28. His available balance was significantly lower than expected after three transactions had been made without his knowledge from a local business, Chon Saan Palace, totaling $472.25.
These deductions occurred on July 26 and 27, with amounts of $179.50, $107.75, and $185.00 respectively. Upon investigating further at the Albert Street branch of Atlantic Bank on Tuesday, July 29, he learned that these purchases were facilitated through the Chon Saan Palace app, which requires basic card information for transactions.
The complainant emphasized that he did not permit anyone to use his card and suspects that someone close to him is the culprit.
Police are investigating.
