Youth football takes center stage as FFB kicks off 2025 U15 and U17 Elite Championships

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) has officially launched the 2025 Boys’ U15 and Men’s U17 Elite Championships, a cornerstone event in its High-Performance Program aimed at developing the next generation of football talent.

Belize won 5-1 over Orange Walk in the U15 kickoff on Friday, June 27. However, in the U17, Orange Walk salvaged a point playing to a 2-2 draw with Belize.

Scheduled to run from Friday, June 27 to Saturday, July 19, the two-tiered tournament brings together top youth talent from across Belize’s nine football regions. Each team has been molded under professional coaching standards, with a focus on refining technical skills, tactical awareness, physical preparation, and mental resilience.

Tournament Format and Teams

The U15 competition features nine teams divided as follows:

• Group A: Toledo, Midsouth, Stann Creek, Belmopan, Cayo
• Group B: Corozal, Orange Walk, San Pedro, Belize

In the U17 category, ten teams will compete, including a national development squad:

• Group A: Toledo, Midsouth, Stann Creek, Belmopan, Cayo
• Group B: Corozal, Orange Walk, San Pedro, Belize, National U15 Team

Both divisions will follow a round robin format with standard scoring—three points for a win, one for a draw. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, culminating in the national finals on July 19.

U15 Division

• Friday, June 27
  • Belize 5-3 Orange Walk – 1:30 PM, Marion Jones Stadium
    (Corozal and San Pedro rest)
• Saturday, June 28

• Cayo vs Midsouth – 1:30 PM, Norman Broaster Stadium
• Stann Creek vs Belmopan – 1:30 PM, Carl Ramos Stadium
  (Toledo rests)

U17 Division

• Thursday, June 27
  • Belize 2-2 Orange Walk – 1:30 PM, Marion Jones Stadium (Group B)
• Friday, June 28
• Cayo vs Midsouth – 1:30 PM, Norman Broaster Stadium (Group A)
• Stann Creek vs Belmopan – 1:30 PM, Carl Ramos Stadium (Group A)
• San Pedro vs National U15 – 1:30 PM, Ambergris Stadium (Group B)
