By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a road traffic accident in southern Belize.
On Wednesday, December 17, about 11:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a road traffic accident in Big Falls Village, Toledo District. Upon arrival, they observed a female lying on the left side of the road with various injuries to her body.
The victim was transported via ambulance to the Punta Gorda Town Hospital and was later transferred to the Dangriga Hospital for medical treatment. She was identified as Irene Savala. Initial information indicates that she had been riding a motorcycle with a male person who reportedly left her at the scene.
