By Horace Palacio: As Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado officially stepped into his new role, two young Belizean artists stole the spotlight with a heartfelt tribute to his predecessor, Commissioner Chester Williams. The artwork, titled “It’s Not Done,” was unveiled during the official swearing-in ceremony as a lasting tribute to Williams’ years of service to the Belize Police Department.

The portrait was a collaborative effort by Judia Young and Raquel Rodriguez, both of whom were chosen by the department to commemorate the outgoing Commissioner. According to Young, the opportunity to participate in the project was deeply meaningful. “I’m absolutely over the moon that I was chosen for this opportunity,” she shared in a social media post. “This piece will stand here for the rest of my lifetime and maybe even my children’s lifetime.”

Young painted the face of Commissioner Williams, while Rodriguez completed the rest of the portrait, including his uniform, hat, and background. Rodriguez also painted the surrounding mural, adding depth and visual storytelling to the tribute.

The piece reflects both the legacy of Chester Williams and the rising talent of Belize’s young artists—two generations of service meeting on a single canvas.

This touching gesture was first reported by What’s Happening Belize Media.
