By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Yo Creek United FC not only clinched the championship title in the Opening Season 2024-2025 1st Division Tournament but also made a remarkable impression with individual awards, winning five of seven. The Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) finals, held at the Louisiana Football Field, saw a thrilling 5-3 victory for Yo Creek United over San Jose Pumas FC, crowning them champions.
Apart from the winners’ trophy, the spotlight of the event was on Alden Castillo from Yo Creek United FC, who was named the Finals MVP for his exceptional performance in the Final and throughout the championship. Castillo’s skillful play on the field were instrumental in his team’s success, earning him recognition as the tournament’s standout player.
In addition to Castillo’s MVP award, Yo Creek United FC and San Jose Pumas FC players were honoured with several individual awards, highlighting their performances throughout the tournament.

- Best Goalkeeper: Richard Rodriguez (San Jose Pumas FC)
- Best Defender: Leonardo Canul (Yo Creek United FC)
- Best Midfielder: Alden Castillo (Yo Creek United FC)
- Best Forward: Axel Alamilla (Yo Creek United FC)
- Most Goals: Axel Alamilla (Yo Creek United FC) and Victor Novelo (San Jose Pumas FC) – both with 8 goals
The OWFA celebrated the champions with individual medals, a team trophy, and a cash prize of $2,000. The sub-champions, San Jose Pumas FC, received individual medals, a team trophy, and a cash prize of $1,000.
