Yo Creek United FC clinch Orange Walk Football Association First Division Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Yo Creek United FC emerged as the champions of the Opening Season 2024-2025 1st Division Championship, hosted by the Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) on Sunday. Yo Creek secured the title with a hotly contested 5-3 victory over San Jose Pumas FC in a dramatic final held at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk Town.

The intense match saw both teams giving their all until the final whistle, but it was Yo Creek United who ultimately conquered, earning them the championship. Their victory qualified them for the 2025 National Amateur Interdistrict Championship organized by the Football Federation of Belize.

The OWFA celebrated the champions with individual medals, a team trophy, and a cash prize of $2,000. The sub-champions, San Jose Pumas FC, received individual medals, a team trophy, and a cash prize of $1,000.

Yo Creek United’s Alden Castillo was voted the Most Valuable Player.

The OWFA expressed their gratitude to all 12 participating clubs, as well as to the club owners, coaching staff, players, and fans for their support throughout the tournament. The OWFA also thanked Minister Kevin Bernard and Football Federation of Belize President, Sergio Chuc.

The OWFA now gets ready for the 2024-25 Closing Championship.
