Yo Creek Agricultural Station hosts PathLight Belize students, mentors, directors

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A group of 32 students and 8 PathLight Belize mentors and directors visited the Yo Creek Agricultural Station as part of a mission to learn more about agriculture and its operations.

The Yo Creek Agricultural Station is run by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, and offers various educational and enriching experiences for students.

The PathLight Belize group explored different areas of the station, such as the Piggery, Chicken Koop and Hatchery, Fruit Tree and Seedlings Nursery, Sheep Unit and Meliponiculture apiary.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE), the PathLight Belize visitors also attended a presentation that gave them a detailed overview of beekeeping, including the types of bees, honey by-products, and the business aspects of honey production.

Moreover, the group discovered the various opportunities and careers that the agriculture sector has to offer, especially with the use of new technologies.

PathLight Belize is a non-governmental organization operating in Belize since 2007 with the goal of assisting with national development through the advancement of education.
