By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Comprehensive School (COMPRE) gained the bronze medal in football at the U18 CODICADER Games in San Salvador, El Salvador, finishing with a 3-3 record.
COMPRE totalled nine points when they finished their six games on Tuesday, but they had to wait until Wednesday, after Nicaragua’s Reyno de Suecia had played their final game, to find out if their performance was good enough to get them on the podium.
Up to Tuesday, they trailed gold medalists, Panama’s Instituto Robiano, who had earned 15 points, and silver medalists, Costa Rica’s Colegio de Santa María de Guadalupe, who earned ten points.
The Nicaraguan school, with seven points, was the only team that could’ve surpassed, but they didn’t and COMPRE celebrated.
