World Meteorological Day Fair 2026 celebrated science, service and community

By Zoila Palma:  The National Meteorological Service hosted successful Weather and Climate Fair in Belmopan on March 20, 2026.

The fair brought together a wide range of partners and the public to highlight the importance of weather, climate, and environmental awareness.

Participating agencies included the Ministry of Agriculture, Energy, Tourism, Caribbean Community Climate Change Center, Statistics & Bureau of Standards, Sugar Industry (including SIRDI), Protected Areas Conservation Trust, National & City Emergency Management Organizations, Port Authority, Pesticide Control Board and OIRSA & CARDI.

The National Met Service extended congratulations to St. Catherine Academy and Mopan Technical High School who received prizes from the Caribbean Meteorological Organization Lightning Contest.

The event also welcomed school children and members of the general public, making it a truly engaging and educational experience for all.

From interactive displays to insightful conversations, the fair showcased how collaboration across sectors helps us better understand and respond to weather and climate challenges.
