World Health Day 2026 urges global support for Science

By Zoila Palma: World Health Day 2026, observed on 7 April, highlights the vital role of science in protecting health worldwide.

Under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science,” the United Nations launches a year-long campaign emphasizing scientific collaboration to safeguard the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet, while promoting the One Health approach.

Key events anchor the campaign, including the International One Health Summit hosted by the Government of France under the French G7 Presidency, and the inaugural Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres from 7–9 April.

The forum brings together nearly 800 scientific institutions from over 80 countries, forming the largest scientific network ever convened by a UN agency and demonstrating the power of multilateral science-driven partnerships.

The campaign encourages global participation through celebrating scientific achievements, engaging with evidence, and sharing stories of how science improves daily life.

Social media engagement is promoted through #StandWithScience and #WorldHealthDay, connecting communities to the global effort to advance health through research and evidence-based solutions.

The World Health Organization emphasize the campaign’s goals: governments, scientists, health workers, partners, and the public are called on to rely on scientific evidence, rebuild trust in public health, and support science-led solutions.
