Womxn in Art showcases creativity, expression and storytelling

By Zoila Palma:  On March 13, 2026, creativity, expression, and storytelling took centre stage at the 2026 Womxn in Art.

The event was held at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts.

Curated by Artist Gayla and Saidy Moore, the showcase features the work of 100+ women artists, including 25 writers and poets, highlighting a vibrant range of visual and literary expression from across Belize.

The exhibit also places special focus on emerging voices, with many artists preparing to exhibit their work for the very first time.

The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) noted that among the participants are 4 young artists between the ages of 8 and 10, a reminder that creativity begins early and continues to grow when it is nurtured.

Albert Vaughan, NICH President, alongside Board Directors Jaylan Craig and Arreini Palacio-Morgan attended the opening show.

“At NICH, we believe that Culture is WHO and WHAT we are, and initiatives like Womxn in Art celebrate the talent, perspectives, and stories that shape Belize’s cultural identity,” NICH said.
