By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Second-place Red Bank Scarlet Girls got past third-place Las Flores FC by the slimmest ofmargins, 1-0, in the first leg of the semifinals of the Women’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (WNAIC) on Saturday at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
Arella Cal converted the only goal of the match in the 35th minute, giving the Southern side the advantage going into the second leg this coming weekend at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence.
The game started at 6:30 pm instead of 6:00 pm as the Red Bank side had vehicle trouble on the way to Belmopan. Additionally, they only featured 13 players, (11 starters and two substitutes) as several of their players couldn’t make the trip due to their jobs.
That translates into a stronger Red Bank side when they play home at home on Saturday at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence.
