Women’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship: Corozal Elite, Red Bank lead charge in semifinals on Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Corozal Elite and Red Bank lead the charge in the Women’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (WNAIC) semifinals on Saturday, August 31, promising thrilling encounters as the top teams vie for a spot in the finals.

The first semifinal features the Cattle Landing Dolphins hosting Corozal Elite at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda at 6:00 pm. Corozal Elite topped the regular season with ten points, six more than Cattle Landing. They have been dominant, with standout performances from players like Kaite Jones, who scored multiple goals in crucial matches. Corozal will be looking to continue their impressive form and secure a spot in the final.

The Cattle Landing Dolphins, who finished the regular season with three points from three draws and one loss, will be the underdogs in this matchup. However, their determination and team spirit could make for an exciting match.

In the second semifinal, the Red Bank Scarlet Girls will face Las Flores FC at 6:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. Red Bank secured their spot in the semifinals with a strong performance throughout the season, finishing second in the standings with nine points from three victories and one loss. They will be looking to their key players to maintain their momentum and secure a place in the final.

Las Flores FC, on the other hand, finished third with four points from one win, one draw, and two losses. Despite their lower ranking, they’ll be aiming to upset the higher-ranked Red Bank team.

The Women’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (WNAIC) semifinals are part of an ongoing effort by the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) to promote women’s football in Belize and provide a platform for talented players to showcase their skills.
