By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Corozal Elite FC topped the regular season of the Women’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship with ten points, one more than the Red Bank Scarlet Girls.
After routing Red Bank last Wednesday, August 21, they did a similar job blanking Las Flores FC on Saturday, August 24, at the Louisiana Government School Field in Orange Walk.
Norielly Terry-Herrador opened the scoring in the 39th minute. Kaite Jones converted a second consecutive brace in the second half for Corozal Elite to lead 3-0. Jones had scored a pair of goals on Wednesday against Red Bank. Betsy Perez sealed the 4-0 win.
Corozal’s ten points are the product of three wins and a draw. Meanwhile, Las Flores finished third with four points from one win, one draw, and two losses.

The Red Bank Scarlet Girls got three easy points, recording a 3-0 win when the Cayo Dreamers forfeited the match that was scheduled for the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence on Saturday night. Red Bank secured the second spot, tagging right behind Corozal Elite, with nine points from three victories and one loss.
The Cayo Dreamers are in last place with one draw and three losses for one solitary point. Just ahead of them, the Cattle Landing Dolphins closed the regular season with three points from three draws and one loss.
These final matches set up the semifinals on Saturday, August 31, and Saturday, September 7.
