By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk are investigating a report made by a 41-year-old woman who alleges that her former common-law partner grabbed her and forced her to accompany him into a bushy area on Friday night.
The woman told police that at around 8:30 p.m. on August 28, 2026, she was leaving her yard in San Lazaro Village and heading to a nearby shop when she encountered her former partner.
According to her account, the man approached her, grabbed her by the right wrist and forced her to walk with him. She told investigators that he appeared highly intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and was staggering.
The complainant alleges that he took her into a bushy area and removed her clothing. She began crying, after which he reportedly told her to leave. She dressed herself and left the area.
The woman also complained of pain to her right wrist from allegedly being grabbed. Police recorded her statement and are expected to question the man as part of the investigation.
