By Breaking Belize News Staff: The family members of Elvis and Emerita Garbutt have confirmed that the money that was meant to purchase the caskets has been sent to them.
Initial reports indicated that San Ignacio businessman Passy Haylock and the Just a Dollar initiative had deposited $2000 to someone on behalf of the family.
A relative claimed that the family never received the funds.
However, this afternoon, another relative confirms that the family received the money since the person deposited it for them and said that she was unaware that her name, photo and bank account details were being used to solicit any funds on behalf of the family.
“I would like to confirm that the Funds received by the person has been transferred to my account. It has been a process, nonetheless they got in contact with me, and I can confirm that it has been received. I extend my deepest gratitude, on behalf of my family, my deceased Sister Emerita and Son Eliss Garbutt for this generous support. Words is not enough to say Thank you to every who continues to support us, in donations, prayers and in many many uncountable blessings,” the relative said.
