By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 31-year-old laborer from Blackman Eddy Village, Desmond Patrick Gordon, was arraigned on Monday morning before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on three counts of obtaining property by deception.

Gordon appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Mannon Dennison, accused of dishonestly obtaining money from three individuals on separate occasions in October. The charges allege that on October 3, 2025, he obtained $900 from a man; on October 8, 2025, another $900 from a woman; and on October 28, 2025, $200 from another woman; all by means of deception.

Gordon pleaded not guilty to all charges. The prosecutor did not object to bail but requested that conditions be imposed to ensure compliance. Magistrate Dennison granted bail in the sum of $4,000 plus two sureties of $2,000 each. Gordon must not be arrested or charged with any similar offense while out on bail, must not contact the virtual complainants or any prosecution witnesses, and must report to the Belmopan Police Station every Friday starting November 7, 2025.

Police reports indicate that one of the alleged victims, a postal clerk, claimed she was defrauded after responding to a Facebook Marketplace post advertising a grey Magic refrigerator for $400 under the profile name “Jenny, Jenny.” The woman said she agreed to pay half the amount upfront and deposited $200 into a Belize Bank account registered to Desmond Patrick Gordon. Despite providing proof of payment, she never received the refrigerator nor a refund.

No details were provided regarding how the other two alleged offenses were committed.
