Woman from Willows Bank found bludgeoned on road side, one person detained

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a rare alleged murder in the village of Willows Bank, Belize District, reported on Tuesday night.

According to police, 30-year Margaret Cleland was found on the Willows Bank Road with injuries to the back of her head.

Police spoke to Cleland’s common-law husband who reported that he arrived home around 6:30 Tuesday night and found blood near the entrance of his home. He also saw his 18-month-old son near a pond in the yard and secured him, before alerting his neighbors to help him look for his partner who was found face down on the road side.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled and police are speaking further to the common-law husband as their investigations continue.
