By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a violent assault that occurred Monday night near a popular nightclub in Orange Walk Town.
Around 8:15 p.m. on February 23, a woman reported that she was walking from Queen Victoria Avenue toward Otro Benque Road to pick up her son when she was suddenly attacked from behind.
As she passed near the Copa Cabana nightclub, she heard fast-approaching footsteps. Before she could react, she felt a hard blow to the back of her head, causing pain.
When she turned around, she saw a tall, slim-built male of Hispanic descent dressed in a dark blue sweater, black long pants, white slippers, and a hat.
The attacker reportedly attempted to punch her, but she shielded her face with her left hand. He then pulled out a knife and made a stabbing motion toward her.
The woman fell to the ground, managing to avoid being stabbed. A nearby male rushed to assist her, prompting the attacker to flee up the hill along San Francisco Street.
Police have recorded a statement and are searching for the unidentified suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
