By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 39-year-old Sales Manager is out on bail following allegations that she pulled a pair of scissors and a knife on a Park Ranger during an altercation at Memorial Park.

Genis Rachael Cruz appeared unrepresented on Monday morning before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 where she was arraigned on a charge of aggravated assault upon a 25-year-old Park Ranger.

The alleged incident occurred on Sunday, July 20, 2025. According to the ranger, while she was on duty at Memorial Park browsing TikTok on her phone, Cruz approached her, cursed at her, slammed a stick on a table, and accused her of having a problem. The ranger further claims that Cruz then pulled a white-handled scissors and a knife from her pocket and allegedly threatened, “Today, today I wah stab you in your throat and mek yuh dead.”

During her court appearance, Cruz initially pleaded guilty with an explanation, claiming she only had a plastic scissors used for cutting paper, and not a knife. After hearing the prosecution’s version of events, Cruz denied several of the claims, stating, “That was all ah lie to be honest. If yuh check the footage, you will see I neva stab at her. I never had a knife.”

Because Cruz did not fully accept the facts, her guilty plea was rejected, and the magistrate entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

The court granted Cruz bail in the sum of $2,000 with one surety, under the condition that she not contact the complainant or her family directly, indirectly, or via social media.

Cruz met bail and is scheduled to return to Court #3 on August 26, 2025.
