By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The William Dawson Peace Cup 2025, organized by the Leadership Intervention Unit within the Ministry of Home Affairs, is gearing up to unite football enthusiasts in the Belize City area. While the tournament primarily targets Belize City teams, it continues its tradition of welcoming participation rural teams from nearby villages such as Ladyville and Hattieville, further promoting unity across communities.
Scheduled to kick off on June 7, 2025, the tournament will feature 16 teams, each composed of 18 players aged 16 and above. This annual tournamenr aims serve as a catalyst for peace, harmony, and connections within communities.
Team registration opened on April 16, 2025, and will close on May 9, 2025. Interested teams can obtain registration forms and detailed information through the Leadership Intervention Unit or by contacting Douglas Hyde. Spots are filling quickly, so teams are encouraged to act fast.
Adding to the anticipation, Tut Bay are entering the tournament as the reigning champions, looking to defend their title. Their victory in the last edition of the Peace Cup has set the bar high, and all eyes will be on them as they take the field this year.
