When fake cops go wrong: Belize City robbery ends in arrest

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Two Belize City men are learning the hard way that pretending to be police officers is not a shortcut to easy money.

Twenty-seven-year-old Kenroy Amani Daly and 26-year-old Ahkeem Rashawn Danderson have been jointly charged with robbery and falsely pretending to be police officers. Daly is also facing an additional charge of aggravated assault.

According to police, the duo allegedly pulled off what might be described as a “low-budget police impersonation” on Monday evening. Around 6:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress on Daly Street, where a shop attendant said two men dressed in camouflage uniforms stormed into the business.

The suspects reportedly pointed firearms at the employee and demanded money, even going behind the counter to help themselves to cash and disposable vapes.

But the act didn’t last long. Police quickly detained two suspects and recovered two 9mm pistols along with ammunition.

Turns out, fake uniforms don’t come with real authority, and now, the pair is facing very real charges.
