By Zoila Palma: WhatsApp experienced significant disruptions today, leaving many users unable to send messages or update their statuses.
The outage prompted widespread frustration on social media, with the hashtag #Whatsappdown trending.
According to DownDetector, which tracks user-reported issues, over 463 complaints regarding WhatsApp were logged by 5:13 PM IST.
Most complaints—over 80%—were related to messaging failures, while 15% reported app-related problems and 4% encountered login issues. Some users also faced challenges uploading statuses or sending messages in groups.
Users quickly took to platforms like X to voice their concerns, with one tweeting, “Is WhatsApp down? I have been trying to upload the status but it couldn’t.” Others speculated whether the issue was related to recent updates.
As of now, WhatsApp has not issued an official statement regarding the outage.
Some users also reported similar issues on other Meta-owned platforms like Facebook and Instagram. This incident follows a major outage just over a month ago that affected users worldwide.
