By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The wet Monday promised in the weekend outlook has arrived on schedule, with showers and isolated thunderstorms working the south, coast, and offshore waters this morning before gradually increasing and spreading around the country through the afternoon and into tonight, and a small craft caution flying over the water.
According to the National Meteorological Service, moist and unstable conditions prevail. Skies will be cloudy at times, becoming mostly cloudy this afternoon. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur mostly over the south, coast, and offshore this morning, with activity gradually increasing and spreading around the country this afternoon into tonight.
The sea carries the day’s caution. A Small Craft Caution is in effect, warning of gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots, with a light chop to choppy seas and waves of 2 to 5 feet. Operators of small crafts should exercise caution.
The cloud cover trims the heat. Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 80 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will reach 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) before dropping to a cool 72 (22 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius).
On the tropical front, the calm holds. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
The outlook matters for Tuesday’s plans, with the NTUCB’s two-city demonstration set for Belmopan and Belize City from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The forecast calls for cloudy spells with generally isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday, then slightly more over the south on Tuesday night, a workable marching forecast, with umbrellas advised as sensible insurance.
Today’s low tides are at 7:30 AM and 7:16 PM, with a high tide at 1:17 PM and another high at 1:12 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:36 AM and will set at 6:17 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Crystal Rosalez.
