By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Wesley College have once again demonstrated their basketball prowess by securing their third consecutive Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) Girls Basketball Championship. The team triumphed over Gwen Lizarraga High School with a commanding 26-12 victory in the final held at Swift Hall in Belize City on Saturday.
Leading the charge for Wesley College was Kaylie Godfrey, who was named MVP for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Godfrey’s stellar play was instrumental in guiding Wesley to yet another championship title.
Cedella Lanza, the top scorer for Wesley, also played a pivotal role in their success.
In the battle for third place, Edward P. Yorke High School emerged victorious over Pallotti High School with a score of 37-8, securing their spot on the podium.
Individual accolades were awarded to several players for their exceptional contributions:
- MVP: Kaylie Godfrey (Wesley)
- Most Steals: Danika Lopez and Primilee Hope (Gwen Liz)
- Best Blocker: Primilee Hope (Gwen Liz)
- Best Defender: Primilee Hope (Gwen Liz)
- Top Scorer: Cedella Lanza (Wesley)
