By Horace Palacio: San Ignacio and Santa Elena are experiencing a sharp rise in gang violence and robberies, forcing authorities to deploy additional police to the area. The recent assassination of David Galindo, a known gang figure, has only intensified tensions.

In a disturbing development, a doctor at the San Ignacio Community Hospital released a harrowing voice recording detailing a night of terror inside the facility. On June 1st, Galindo was brought to the hospital after being shot. His gang members followed, threatening doctors and demanding immediate care.

The recording reveals how the gang members terrorized patients and staff, punching through a glass door and even damaging the ambulance. The doctor expressed fear for their safety and criticized the lack of police protection.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has expressed his outrage at the incident, admitting that the police should have done more to protect the hospital. He assured the public that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

The incident has left the medical staff deeply shaken, with one doctor stating they no longer feel safe coming to work. The Ministry of Health is investigating the incident and providing counseling to staff.
