By Horace Palacio: A 23-year-old fisherman, RayShawn Middleton, is in critical condition after a shooting incident in the Benguche Area of Dangriga Town early Saturday morning. Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:25 AM and found Middleton at the Southern Regional Hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He has since been transferred to the Western Regional Hospital for surgery.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred after an altercation at a wake Middleton was attending with two friends. A group of individuals confronted one of the friends, leading to a physical altercation. When Middleton intervened to prevent a motorcycle from being stolen, he was shot by one of the assailants, identified by witnesses as Nolberto Smith.
Police have named several persons of interest in the case, including Smith, Alpha Augustine, Dylon McNab, and Deonicio McNab.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
