By Aaron Humes: Returning Officer in today’s Caye Caulker cannabis referendum Anthony Mai told reporters a short while ago that just under 59 percent of registered voters participated in today’s election.
857 valid votes were cast along with three spoiled ballots. Those are now being reconciled with counting expected to start right away.
Mai said he observed no major issues with voter participation and said the process went smoothly. Counting is expected to take between two to three hours and Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai is on hand and expected to make the official announcement.
