By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Vikings clinched the Orange Walk Football Association’s U13 Championship on Sunday, capturing the title in a riveting final at the People’s Stadium. The match against San Jose U13 went down to the wire, with the Vikings prevailing 5–4 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The championship match kept spectators on the edge of their seats, as both teams gave their all in a hard-fought 1-1 game. Vikings went on to win the championship in a heart-stopping penalty shootout that ultimately determined the winner, with the Vikings demonstrating their composure and skill under pressure to secure the championship title.
In the fight for third place, Mis Nietos of Guinea Grass claimed victory, defeating Trinidad 2-1 in another spirited match. The young players of Mis Nietos showed great determination and teamwork, earning them a well-deserved spot on the podium.
During the closing ceremony, the first and second-place teams received team trophies along with individual medals to honor their achievements. Mis Nietos, the third-place team, was also recognized with a team trophy, marking a successful end to the tournament.
The Orange Walk Football Association’s thanked the nine participating teams and announced that the Closing Championship will kick off soon.
